What does NAIDOC Week mean to me ?
NAIDOC Week is a reminder of the history of Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander peoples of Australia. The more knowledge people have about the history the more chances we have of truly reconciling. It’s about promoting / celebrating the achievements Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have had over the years, shows our history, culture, beliefs and to fight for our rights towards social justice, to teach New Australians to understand what our people have experienced.
The Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander culture is the oldest continuing culture in the world and that is something all Australians should be proud of.
How do I celebrate NAIDOC Week?
With passion, enthusiasm and optimism! Participating and “SHOWING UP” where needed!
